Teenage girl killed in a crash after car failed to stop for police

The car carrying the adolescent girl failed to stop for police and smashed into a business, resulting in her death.

The girl, a passenger in the vehicle identified locally as 15-year-old Nessa Lewandowska, perished in the collision on Tuesday at 22:20 BST on High Town Road in Luton.

Before the automobile impacted a building, police sent a signal for it to stop.

A man with severe injuries was evacuated to a hospital. Police are looking for a third person.

A third individual fled the vehicle through the boot and was sought after by the police, according to an eyewitness who witnessed last night’s collision and informed the BBC.

It is believed that the vehicle entered a one-way street the incorrect direction, struck a bollard, and crashing.

Nessa’s friends have been leaving flowers at the collision scene and calling her a very popular girl.

A structural engineer was hired to make the site safe after people impacted by the shop’s damage were removed from the structure.

According to a spokesperson, the force referred itself to the Independent Police Complaints Commission “in line with standard protocol.”

“Anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw the Volkswagen Golf – which has a black bonnet and black roof – prior to the collision, is asked to contact police,” the force added.

“First and foremost, my thoughts and sympathies are with the family and friends of the young woman who has passed away,” IPCC Commissioner Carl Gumsley stated.

“Clearly we are at the very early stages of this investigation; IPCC investigators were deployed to the scene shortly after this incident, attended post incident procedures and have begun to gather information to aid their enquiries.”
