Horror, graveyard attack as corrosive ‘noxious’ liquid thrown at man

Kent Police have arrested a 22-year-old man after an incident in Ramsgate, when a victim had an unknown corrosive liquid thrown at them, and were subsequently rushed to hospital for burn injuries

After a victim at a cemetery was thrown an unidentified corrosive liquid, police detained a man.

The event occurred in St Laurence Graveyard in Ramsgate, Kent, on Sunday, February 11 at about 8:20 p.m. Following his admission to the hospital for burn treatment, the sufferer was allowed to leave. This afternoon, Kent Police announced that a 22-year-old Ramsgate resident was detained on suspicion of assault and later released on bond until additional investigation is conducted.

Kent Police released the following statement: “Detectives are still pleading with anyone who has information but hasn’t come forward to contact them. They are still eager to talk to a man who they think left the churchyard at around nine o’clock at night.

“White, in his mid-to late-20s, with short dark hair, wearing blue jeans, a black coat with a hood, and black headphones, the man is characterized as having these features. Although he is not being considered a suspect, the police believe he may have seen something important and may have knowledge that might aid their investigation.”

Authorities said that at about 20:20 GMT on Sunday, a man was thrown the substance at in St Laurence Graveyard, Ramsgate.
They think that someone in the vicinity might have known “important information” about the case.
An individual in his mid-to-late 20s who was in the vicinity is “particularly keen” to speak with detectives.
It was thought that the man had left the churchyard at around 11:00 on Sunday.
Although the man is not being considered a suspect, Kent Police stated that he may have seen “something significant” that could be useful in their investigation.
The Thanet district commander, Ch Insp Ian Swallow, requested that anyone look for any video material that would be useful to the police.
The injured party was brought to the hospital.
