Murder investigation begins after teenager stabbed

According to the Met Police, a family is “reeling” after a teen was stabbed to death in south London.

At approximately 19:10 GMT on Tuesday, police located the 17-year-old teenager who had been stabbed close to Sutton railway station. At the scene, he was declared deceased.
The area’s highways were closed, according to the Met, and the train station was shuttered.
The police stated no one had been arrested and that they had begun a murder investigation.
“This afternoon as Londoners go about their day, a family is reeling from the shock of losing a young family member to violence in our city,” stated Det Ch Insp Mike Nolan, who is in charge of the Met’s inquiry.

“Our investigation, though in its early stages, is moving at a pace and while we work to establish the circumstances,” he stated.
The London Ambulance Service provided on-site medical care to the boy, but the Met stated in a statement that he “died as a result of his injuries.”
It stated that a post-mortem examination had not yet been planned, but the boy’s next of kin had been notified and were “being supported by specialist officers”.
The train station is anticipated to stay closed for the remainder of Wednesday, according to posts made by Thameslink and Southern on X, the former Twitter account.
It is recommended that customers look up travel information beforehand and take other routes.
