Leeds United left in tears after one of the biggest transfer saga

According to sources, Dejan Ljubicic, a midfielder for FC Köln, will remain in Germany this summer and will not be signing with Leeds United.

The Whites signed Largie Ramazani to a long-term contract on Thursday night, and they now need to bring in three more players this month.

Leeds needs to be looking for a midfield player, as only Joe Rothwell has joined the team since Archie Gray and Glen Kamara left back in July.

Earlier this week, there were rumors circulating that Dejan Ljubicic, a midfielder for FC Köln, was pressing for a move to Elland Road.

Leeds has not yet improved the £3.4 million offer that was turned down for the Austrian international back in July.

But now, Bild is claiming—repeated by Schöner Schrank Palm on X—that the two teams have called off their agreement, with Leeds growing more and more apprehensive about the financial commitment needed to sign the 2.Bundesliga player:

“Because during the past few days, there had been growing misgivings at Leeds regarding the significance of the transfer.

“Specifically, it’s said that the poker game involving Ljubicic and his private setting became so intricate in the end that an increasing number of English people opposed the player’s taking a financial risk.”

The same source stated earlier in the morning that Köln is still demanding a raised offer of €7 million (£5.93 million), despite Leeds having presented a three-year contract for £1.95 million.

While Köln is now subject to a transfer ban, they would prefer not to sell their star midfield player since they cannot find a replacement.

It’s undeniable that Leeds could need a midfielder, and Ljubicic is unquestionably better than what we currently have.

He’s not the finest option available, though, thus it would be better to pursue other goals with the requested funds.

For someone who mainly wouldn’t show any real consistency in the final third, over £6 million is a lot of money.
