Swindon Town and Walsall Reunion Doesn’t Go to Plan

Cheltenham Town appointed former Swindon Town and Walsall boss Michael Flynn to the role of manager following the departure of Darrell Clarke to Barnsley. However, the reunion with former player Liam Kinsella has not turned out how many would have expected.

Michael Flynn has managed Kinsella at three separate clubs; the two initially connected at Walsall, where the player had spent much of his playing career.

The midfielder was one of several players that moved to the County Ground as part of Swindon Town’s new look squad when the 43-year-old was named their new manager last summer. His tenure with the Robins was short-lived, as he chose to move up to League One with Cheltenham Town following the dismissal of his previous manager.

Darrell Clarke unfortunately left the team at the end of the season, and they were demoted from the third division. Flynn’s employment might have given Kinsella a false feeling of security after he left the Saddlers, as the former had been through a turbulent period.

The footballer is one of three who, according to Gloucestershire Live, have been informed to find another club.

“There haven’t been any conflicts or disagreements,”

“I’ve had Liam Kinsella for three clubs; he’s a great young man and a competent professional. Both Tom Bradbury and Max Harris have maintained a low profile.

“We’ve just had an open discussion about their ability to leave the football team should something come up for them. That takes place everywhere. That was something I heard a lot as a player.

The information has been shared with those who are available, and it hasn’t altered since my arrival. I’ve been upfront and truthful; it’s just where things stand right now.

In what seemed to be the manager sending one of his reliable players to right the ship and communicate his directives to the side, the player trailed him to Swindon Town. Many would have assumed that the player would have adopted the same strategy given that he was already at Cheltenham Town. Though the midfielder only made the move up to League One with the team six months ago, Flynn no longer thinks that the player has a place in his squad for whatever reason, which will probably have come as a blow to the player.
