Aston Villa is interested in signing a 24-year-old Dutch defender who is being watched by RB Leipzig.

Since Unai Emery became manager, Aston Villa has been incredibly astute in the transfer market. The club’s fortunes have miraculously turned around thanks to the Spanish tactician.

For the former Gunners manager, it matters most that he has full support in the transfer market. To his credit, Emery is free to select the players he wants on the team and those he doesn’t, and the outcomes are visible to all.

This summer, Villa lost players like Douglas Luiz and Moussa Diaby, but they also added players like Ross Barkley, Amadou Onana, Ian Maatsen, Cameron Archer, Jaden Philogene, and Samuel Iling-Junior. They have essentially already taken Diaby’s place.

RB Leipzig is also keeping an eye on the 24-year-old Dutch international this summer. Under current Liverpool manager Arne Slot, Geertruida established himself at the Eredivisie club and may be prepared for the next phase of his career.
