Crystal Palace considering move for 23y/o league winner as club eye double deals

The last few weeks of the transfer market may see Crystal Palace remain quite busy.

Oliver Glasner is always trying to find fresh talent for Selhurst Park, and if the Eagles lose some of their core players, they may have to make some trades.

Two offers for Marc Guehi have been turned down by Newcastle United, and Palace insists that any prospective buyer will need to stump up £65 million to get his services.

The 24-year-old center back is the target of another proposal from the Magpies. Palace plans to reinvest in the team to sign at least one, if not two, center backs if they are successful in securing a contract for him.

Fulham is expressing interest in signing Palace defender Joachin Andersen concurrently, but they will need to increase their offer in order to acquire the 28-year-old player.

In the event that Guehi departs, Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Palace is trying to recruit Ivory Coast defender Odilon Kossounou.

In case Guehi departs, Glasner has already flagged Maxence Lacroix, a defender for Wolfburg, as a possible replacement.

Although he is still Palace’s first priority for this month, Kossounou has now been included as an additional choice. The Bayer Leverkusen center defender is an Ivory Coast native with 24 caps.

Under Xabi Alonso, he won the Bundesliga title the previous season. He can also play right back if necessary. He made 34 appearances for the German team in all competitions last season, and he would be a great addition to Palace.

Romano posted on X, saying, “I understand that Maxence Lacroix and Odilon Kossounou are being considered by Crystal Palace as center back options. Everything relies on Marc Guehi leaving, since Newcastle is expected to make another bid shortly.

But Palace won’t take official action unless Guehi quits the team. Bild claims that Lacroix will cost Palace approximately £17.1 million, which shouldn’t be an issue.
