French Giants steal a winger deal from Leeds United and Norwich City

The French team Marseille is getting close to making a deal for Jonathan Rowe of Norwich City, which deals a fresh setback to Leeds United. Leeds had high hopes for the English winger, believing the 21-year-old would be a suitable replacement for Crysencio Summerville.

The story began with reports that The Whites had made a verbal bid of £7 million for Rowe. Norwich City turned down this offer because they thought it was too little for their academy graduate.

Wolverhampton Wanderers also entered the battle to sign the winger, which intensified the situation. Leeds did not have an unfair edge over Wolves because Wolves was a Premier League team and had more money.

But once Wanderers lost interest in the winger, things calmed down. Later on, Norwich City made a £15 million demand for Jonathan, and United refused to pay them.

However, everything settled down once Wanderers abandoned interest in the winger. Afterwards, United declined to pay Norwich City’s £15 million claim for Jonathan.

Although there had been speculation that the 49ers would return with a higher offer, the teams’ valuation had already become problematic.

With the departure of Championship Player of the Season Crysencio Summerville, the West Yorkshire team is in desperate need of a winger. The team now lacks depth up front, which could hurt their chances of getting promoted.

While other targets wait in the wings to be claimed by other teams, Rowe continues to be The 49ers’ top objective.

Another goal Leeds United had was to secure a transaction for less than £10 million. However, Norwich’s high value caused them to reconsider their offer, which made it take too long for them to respond.

Marseille are still in the lead for now, and Leeds will need to find other answers for their winger issues. Jesurun Rak-Sakyi’s 49ers and Crystal Palace have agreed on a loan arrangement, although the player has not yet decided what to do with himself.

Another choice was Ryan Kent, but the Englishman will now be traveling to England for Ipswich instead of Leeds. Fenerbahçe and the player have reached an agreement on a £2.5 million deal, although the club has not yet finalized the finer points.

Sontje Hansen and Morgan Whittaker are the only two choices left if both Jonathan and Rak-Sayi are eliminated.
