Crystal Palace have just bid for £4m defender as Marc Guehi nears £60m move

As Marc Guehi gets ready to move to Newcastle, Crystal Palace has already placed a bid for a new center defender.

Director of Football at Selhurst Park Dougie Freedman hasn’t spent any time in trying to find the England international’s replacement.

Guehi is anticipated to sign a £60 million contract with Newcastle later this week, as reported by the Telegraph. This comes as a severe blow to Oliver Glasner, who has already lost Michael Olise, since the Magpies have begun negotiations with the Eagles.

But now, Crystal Palace has moved swiftly to bid for what appears to be Marc Guehi’s replacement.

According to a report from 226foot, Crystal Palace has put up an offer to sign Nasser Djiga.

The Serbian powerhouses have placed a €5 million (£4.3 million) valuation on the Red Star Belgrade No. 24. The central defender’s representatives confirmed to 226foot that both Crystal Palace and RC Lens have made offers for him.

A decision about Djiga’s future is reportedly scheduled to be made public later this week because the Burkina Faso international preferred to concentrate on Red Star Belgrade’s UEFA Champions League play-off.

In the event that Red Star Belgrade accepts our offer and the 21-year-old succeeds in south London, it would be a fantastic financial move for Freedman, who as Director of Football has already brought in huge sums of money for Crystal Palace.

Being associated with a somewhat unknown talent is always thrilling, especially when a savvy individual like Freedman is in charge of hiring.

Given his early experience and talent, Djiga appears to have what it takes to be a star in the Premier League.

The defender, who was born in Bobo-Dioulasso, has already accumulated a great deal of experience in European football. He has played in seven UEFA Conference League games and six UEFA Champions League games, including two matches against Manchester City.

Make sure to stay tuned to this story, as we may learn later this week how Crystal Palace’s proposal turned out.

After wooing Wilfried Zaha away from Selhurst Park in the summer, the Turkish giants brought some anguish to Crystal Palace supporters. Now, the Super Lig champions are involved in yet another setback for the Eagles.

What target does Galatasaray have signed with Crystal Palace, then? Let’s examine this.

Gabriel Sara from Norwich has now been signed by Galatasaray for a fee of €18 million (£15 million).

In Istanbul, the Brazilian has signed a five-year contract.

It follows after UOL reported in May that Crystal Palace was in advanced negotiations to recruit Norwich’s Sara, and the BBC even verified our interest in the South American.

Director of Football at Selhurst Park Dougie Freedman has recently developed a practice of scouting the Championship for new players, bringing in players like Adam Wharton and Michael Olise from England’s second level.

As a result, it was not surprising that people were interested in Sara since the Joinville native had a stellar season last year, tallying 13 goals and 12 assists in 46 games.

Because to his outstanding performances, the 25-year-old even secured a spot on the Championship Team of the Year.

Unfortunately, Galatasaray won the race to sign Sara, therefore Crystal Palace supporters won’t be able to see his incredible left foot at Selhurst Park next season.

Ismaila Sarr’s recent arrival from Marseille was definitely a plus, but Crystal Palace supporters may have a difficult few weeks ahead of them due to several players being linked to departures.

First, according to the Express, Aston Villa has reached out to sign Jean-Philippe Mateta, who is reportedly enticed by the prospect of playing in the UEFA Champions League.

Then, before Caught Offside, an article from The Athletic claimed that Newcastle had begun contract negotiations to sign Marc Guehi.

It would be difficult to lose another important player after losing Olise, to put it mildly.

Make sure to follow Crystal Palace’s progress; maybe, a surprise signing may divert attention from unsettling rumors of possible departures.

Many football fans haven’t forgotten about the Frenchman as he propels Thierry Henry’s team to the Olympic semifinals. Most recently, he scored a fantastic header to give France a 1-0 victory over Argentina in the quarterfinal.

As contract negotiations between Crystal Palace and the striker stagnate, Mateta has also been the target of an offer from Aston Villa, who are gearing up for UEFA Champions League play the following season.

In the midst of the transfer drama, the Crystal Palace No. 14 stated in January 2021 that something gives reason for concern.

In an interview with So Foot, Jean-Philippe Mateta—who signed with Crystal Palace in January 2021 for an initial 18-month loan—effectively acknowledged that he intended to use the Eagles as a stepping stone.

The Sevran-born man responded, “We can qualify for the Europa League already!” to a question on Crystal Palace’s chances of winning a trophy from the French news site. Crystal Palace can then assist me in joining the club where I will play for ten years and win trophies.

Mateta responded, “I want to win trophies, be in the French team, and play in the Champions League,” when questioned about his goals. I desire everything.

The 27-year-old may now clearly play in the UEFA Champions League for Aston Villa next season. If he does well in the competition, this could lead to a transfer to a team where winning championships is a regular occurrence.

Mateta’s assertion that “Crystal Palace can help” him join another team ultimately shows that the £9 million player has no intention of staying at Selhurst Park and would be more than willing to go for a team competing in the UEFA Champions League if the right opportunity presented itself.

Finals of the UEFA Champions League According to Christian Falk of BILD, Borussia Dortmund is eager to get Mateta this summer as the German powerhouse gets ready to lose Niclas Fullkrug to West Ham.

Mateta is also wanted by Roma, a team in the UEFA Europa League, who are just below the UEFA Champions League.

The Crystal Palace talisman is undoubtedly a sought-after striker, and if we want to keep him away from a team of this caliber come summertime, the 2024–25 campaign under Oliver Glasner will need to be extra remarkable.
