24-year-old to leave West Ham in January to join European giants and it’s not Mohammed Kudus
I believe that Julen Lopetegui and Tim Steidten’s summer rebuild failed because too many players of inferior quality, like Guido Rodriguez, Niclas Fullkrug, and Luis Guilherme, arrived to the London Stadium.
Without bolstering the team, the Hammers cannot afford to close out the winter window.
However, with Mohammed Kudus on Arsenal’s radar, all the discussion right now is about a possible departure.
The Ghanian seemed destined to leave West Ham. Whether that will be in January or the summer remains to be seen.
Right now though, it’s another Hammer who will almost certainly leave the club this winter.
Even if we need to add one or two elite players, we also need to get rid of a lot of deadwood.
Additionally, it appears that one of those players who is on the outside of Lopetegui’s team will be leaving the team this winter.
Celtic is eager to sign Andy Irving, but West Ham is willing to let him go in January, according to a report from The Athletic.
The 24-year-old has barely featured for the Hammers this season – just 60 minutes in all competitions in fact (Transfermarkt).
Irving was said to be impressing Lopetegui during pre-season, but he hasn’t kicked on since then unfortunately.
David Moyes brought Andy Irving to the London Stadium from from SK Austria Klagenfurt on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2023, and then immediately loaned him back to the Austrian club.
Sky Sports Austria claimed that the Hammers paid roughly £3 million to sign the 24-year-old.
Irving recently admitted that he actually had the chance to leave West Ham in the summer, but he remained at the London Stadium in the end.
The Scot is a decent footballer, but he’s nowhere near the levels required to succeed in the Premier League.
The sooner he leaves the London Stadium the better it will be for all parties concerned in my opinion.
And it seems like Andy Irving could well leave West Ham to join Celtic when the January transfer window opens.
