Royal Caribbean International has issued a strong warning to passengers regarding onboard safety after a man went overboard during heavy seas on Sunday evening. The incident occurred around 8:45 PM on May 18, 2025, as the Symphony of the Seas was navigating through rough waters approximately 40 miles off the coast of the Bahamas.
According to company officials, the passenger was last seen near the ship’s deck 15 observation area, shortly before high winds and swells began battering the vessel. Crew members were immediately alerted, and emergency protocols were activated. The ship turned around to initiate a search operation, which continued into the early hours of Monday with the assistance of the U.S. Coast Guard.
In a statement released this morning, Royal Caribbean emphasized the importance of adhering to safety guidelines, especially during adverse weather conditions. “We urge all guests to remain vigilant and follow crew instructions at all times. Passenger safety is our highest priority,” the statement read.
