A 12-year-old boy tragically fell to his death aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship on Monday afternoon, sparking shock and sorrow among passengers and crew. The incident occurred around 3:45 PM EST as the vessel, Harmony of the Seas, sailed through the Caribbean Sea on a week-long voyage from Miami.
According to early reports, the boy was seen playing near a railing on one of the upper decks before losing his balance and falling several stories. Ship personnel responded immediately and attempted life-saving measures, but the child was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not released the boy’s identity, pending notification of his family. Royal Caribbean issued a statement expressing deep condolences and confirming that an investigation is underway. “We are devastated by this tragic incident and are working closely with the family and relevant authorities,” the cruise line said.
Passengers described the mood onboard as somber, with many choosing to remain in their cabins following the announcement. U.S. Coast Guard officials have been notified, and an inquiry into safety protocol adherence is expected to follow.
