BREAKING NEWS: Major Power Outage Strikes Cruise Ship Carnival Radiance off Florida Coast

A sudden power failure aboard the Carnival Radiance left more than 3,000 passengers in the dark late Saturday evening while the vessel was sailing approximately 40 miles off the coast of Miami, Florida. The ship had departed Port Canaveral earlier that day for a five-day Caribbean voyage when, around 10:45 PM local time, all primary power systems unexpectedly shut down.

According to passengers, lights flickered and elevators stalled, while air conditioning and water services were briefly disrupted. Crew members quickly moved to calm guests, using emergency generators to restore essential functions and lighting in common areas. No injuries have been reported, but the ship was temporarily adrift in open waters.

Carnival Cruise Line issued a statement early Sunday morning confirming the outage and attributing it to a “mechanical malfunction in the ship’s main electrical control systems.” Technicians onboard managed to restore partial power within two hours. Tugboat assistance was dispatched as a precaution.

The ship has since resumed its course at reduced speed and is scheduled to return to port one day early for a full inspection.

The U.S. Coast Guard is monitoring the situation closely and has launched an investigation into the cause of the failure.
