In a harrowing incident early Friday morning, a female passenger aboard the Carnival Breeze, operated by Carnival Cruise Line, reportedly jumped overboard from the 10th deck of the ship while it was sailing through the Gulf of Mexico. The event occurred around 8:45 AM CST, triggering an immediate response from the ship’s emergency teams and Coast Guard officials.
Eyewitnesses describe a moment of shock and panic as the woman, whose identity has not yet been released, was seen climbing over the railing before plunging into the open waters. Crew members quickly initiated a search-and-rescue operation, deploying lifeboats and alerting maritime authorities.
The cruise, which departed from Galveston, Texas earlier this week, was en route to the Caribbean when the incident unfolded. Passengers were informed of the situation over the ship’s intercom as operations briefly halted.
Carnival Cruise Line confirmed the incident in a statement, expressing deep concern and noting that the U.S. Coast Guard has taken over the search operation. “Our thoughts are with the guest’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” the company said.
Further updates are expected as the investigation continues.
