A Carnival Cruise turned into a nightmare at sea after a major engine failure left thousands stranded in open waters on Sunday. The vessel, en route from Miami to the Caribbean, experienced a sudden mechanical breakdown approximately 150 nautical miles from the nearest port. Passengers reported power outages, air conditioning failures, and rising tensions on board as crew members scrambled to assess the damage.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of confusion and growing panic, with some passengers rushing to deck areas in search of updates. “We were in the dark—literally and figuratively,” said Maria Lopez, a traveler from Texas. “There was no clear communication for hours.”
Carnival Cruise Lines confirmed the incident in a statement, attributing the failure to a critical engine malfunction.
