Breaking News: Carnival Cruise Ship Capsizes – 200 Rescued, 1,200 Feared Dead
Tragedy struck at sea today as a Carnival cruise ship carrying approximately 1,400 passengers and crew capsized under mysterious circumstances. The incident occurred in international waters during the early hours of the morning, prompting an immediate large-scale rescue operation.
Coast guard officials confirm that 200 people have been rescued so far, many suffering from hypothermia and injuries. Distress calls were reportedly sent out shortly before the ship overturned, but the cause remains unclear. Weather conditions were reportedly stable, leaving many to question what could have triggered the disaster.
Eyewitnesses described a chaotic scene as the ship tilted violently to one side before completely capsizing. “It happened so fast. People were screaming, running for life jackets—then we were in the water,” said one survivor.
Authorities fear the death toll could rise significantly, with over 1,200 still unaccounted for. Search and rescue missions are ongoing, involving helicopters, ships, and international support.
Carnival Cruise Line has not yet released a full statement but says it is working closely with rescue teams and offering support to families. Investigations are underway to determine if mechanical failure, human error, or other factors were involved in the catastrophe.
