The defending champions travel to Tenerife Top Training, which has more than 250 teams annually and is already used for preseason training by teams like Warrington Wolves and Hull KR.
At Headingley Stadium, Wigan wrapped up their preseason games on Sunday. Captain Liam Farrell, Jai pitch, Liam Marshall, Jake Wardle, Adam Keighran, Harry Smith, Luke Thompson, Junior Nsemba, Kaide Ellis, and Patrick Mago all made their first appearances on the pitch this season.
It was the second of two planned games; earlier this month, they had also played Oldham, headed by Sean Long, at Boundary Park.
At the “art of performance excellence” center, preparations are ongoing abroad. On Friday, February 7, at Olympic Legacy Park Community Stadium, Wigan will play Sheffield Eagles in the third round of the Challenge Cup, their first competitive match of 2025.
Discussing the week’s focus abroad, assistant coach Sean O’Loughlin told Wigan Today: “You get the opportunity to train on a dry pitch with a dry ball, so sharpening the skills side up is one thing.

In my opinion, everything moves a bit more quickly on a dry track, so even though the ball is sharper, your defense is put to the test a bit more.
Really, it’s just a matter of fine-tuning everything. When you’re on the field, you get a little bit more quality. Nothing will change; we’re just focusing a little bit more on the quality side.
