After spending the previous two years in Cape Town, Stormers winger Ben Loader has signed a three-year contract with Gloucester, which will bring him back to the Premiership next season.
In an attempt to get Loader to return to Kingsholm for the upcoming season, Cherry and Whites manager George Skivington has defeated Leicester Tigers, Sale Sharks, Bath, Saracens, and Harlequins.
Loader, who was born in Reading, was called up to the senior squad by Eddie Jones after winning caps for his nation at the under-16 and under-18 levels. In 2019, he played in an uncapped game against the Barbarians.
After his old team, the London Irish, failed in 2023, Loader made a surprise switch to the Stormers. Last season, he made 18 appearances for John Dobson’s team and scored six tries.
He missed the first half of this season due to a knee operation, but he has started the past two games, including the Challenge Cup victory over the Sale Sharks and the loss to Stuart Lancaster’s Racing 92 over the weekend.
Loader has a strong try-scoring record throughout his six years with the Exiles. He can also play outside center and full-back. He was a 2022 Premiership Cup Finalist and made 24 touchdowns in 75 games.
Starting with this weekend’s trip to Leinster, the Stormers are hoping that Loader, whose younger brother Danny Namaso plays professional football for top Portuguese team Porto, could ignite a change in their fortunes.

Following scrum-half Herschel Jantjies’ announcement that he is leaving for France for the upcoming season after signing with Bayonne, he is expected to become the second member of Dobson’s team to reveal that they are leaving at the end of the current campaign.
Additionally, Dobson is battling to hang onto highly regarded inside center Wandisile Simelane, who is drawing interest from Japanese team NEC Green Rockets Tokatsu, Premiership powerhouse Bristol Bears, and Top 14 team Castres.
