The wide player has one goal and two assists in the fifth division so far this season for the Bees, who defeated Southend United 3-0 on Saturday to move within one point of league leaders Forest Green Rovers.
Kanu, a former EFL player, joined the Bees in 2022 after playing for Peterborough United, Port Vale, and, more recently, Northampton Town on loan.
The Sierra Leonean international joined Barnet in the summer of 2022 and scored 10 goals in 46 games in all competitions during the 2022–2023 campaign.
After that, Kanu scored seven goals in 34 National League games last season, which helped the Bees qualify for the playoffs, where they were defeated by Solihull Moors.
With just 19 games remaining, his achievements this season have put the Bees in the running for the title. In November, Dean Brennan’s team played League One Exeter City, giving him the opportunity to hone his abilities against an EFL team.
Since Kanu made seven appearances for Northampton during the aforementioned loan spell in 2021–2022, Carlisle and Bromley are competing to give him his first taste of League Two action after being impressed by his performances in the fifth division. However, the National League team has so far rejected their transfer bids.
Earlier in the 2021/22 campaign, the 25-year-old also made five Championship appearances for Peterborough, while he also helped the Posh on their way to automatic promotion from League One in 2021, scoring two goals in 17 third tier outings.
Given that League Two’s bottom team is in desperate need of reinforcements as they attempt to escape consecutive relegations, it is easy to understand why Carlisle is eager to hire Kanu.

The EFL newboys will be eager to show off their financial prowess in the transfer market after a lucrative FA Cup third-round matchup with Premier League Newcastle United, but Andy Woodman’s team is in a much healthier 11th place in the fourth tier standings.
However, as portrayed by the bids for Kanu they have already rejected, the Bees will be very keen to retain their man, as they look to return to League Two for the first time since suffering relegation from the fourth tier at the end of a challenging 2017/18 campaign.
