Preston North End are poised to tie down the centre-back to an extension as they risk losing him on a free transfer this summer under his current terms.
Lindsay, 29, has been a key player since making the switch to Deepdale back in 2021. He has made 127 appearances in all competitions, 24 of which have come this season, and he has chipped in with three goals.
In this latest update regarding his situation in Lancashire by reporter Nixon on Patreon, the player is set to pen fresh terms with Paul Heckingbottom’s side which would be a big boost.
The Lilywhites drew 0-0 away at Luton Town this weekend and are currently sat in 16th place in the Championship table, five points above the relegation zone after playing 27 fixtures.
Lindsay is an experienced player for Preston and is a useful asset to their squad.
He will be a good person to have in and around the dressing room.
The Lilywhites landed him on an initial loan to strengthen their defensive ranks and later made his switch permanent.
After making his transfer to his current club full-time, he told their website at the time: “I’m delighted and just happy it’s been done so quickly as well. I always wanted to come back here and I’m just looking forward to the season ahead.

“I got a good feeling as soon as I came really – the players, staff, just everyone about really. I’ve enjoyed my time so much over the last six months and I’m delighted to come back.
“[When I signed] on deadline day, it was a bit hectic, so it’s better to get it done on the first day rather than the last now. It gives me a bit of clarity and a bit of stability as well so I’m just happy to get it done.”
Lindsay started his career at Partick Thistle and broke into their first-team as a youngster.
He was lured down to England in 2017 by Barnsley and spent two years at Oakwell.
Stoke City then snapped him up and he went on to play 23 games for the Potters.
The Glasgow-born man has since made Preston his home.
It appears Lindsay is edging closer to putting pen-to-paper on an extended deal.
The Lilywhites are back in action on Tuesday away at Watford.
