Leyton Orient are set to lure the midfielder to London this winter as they have until the end of the January transfer window to further bolster their ranks.
Abdulai, 22, has made 20 appearances in all competitions so far this season for Swansea City, 17 of which have come in the Championship, and he has chipped in with two goals. His contract with the Welsh outfit expires in the summer of 2026.
In this latest update regarding his situation this month by Witcoop on X, the O’s are snapping him up ahead of League One rivals Mansfield Town. It remains to be seen at this stage whether it is a permanent deal or a loan.
Richie Wellens’ side are sat in 8th position in the table and are three points off the play-offs following their draw with Peterborough United.
Leyton Orient could see Abdulai as someone to add more competition to their midfield department.
He has been on the books at Swansea City since 2021 and played 11 matches prior to this campaign.
The Glasgow-born man has enjoyed plenty of game time so far this term under Luke Williams in the second tier.
“When I came here, I just wanted to get working and to focus on myself and my football, and now with the new contract, I can just keep doing what I do day to day,” he said on the Swans’ website after receiving a new contract in November of last year.

“The chance to stay longer here demonstrates that I’m doing something right and that the staff believes in me.” It’s a great feeling.
“With my extension, I can now set longer-term goals for myself at the club and begin working toward them with the staff, who have been fantastic since I arrived.”
From 2012 to 2019, Abdulai was a member of Celtic’s academy before moving to England.
Before Swansea City approached, the former Scotland youth player was signed by Leicester City and played for the Foxes for a year.
A move to Leyton Orient will help Abdulai get some regular football and join a team chasing a place in the top six.
The O’s are back in league action on Saturday against Reading.
