According to a statement from the club, Greg Eden has consented to be released from his contract. He has our gratitude for his time here and our best wishes for the future.
Eden, 34, was a starter at Halifax the previous season before joining Featherstone in May and making 15 appearances. Eden has previously played for Castleford, Huddersfield, Hull KR, and Brisbane Broncos.
Will Jubb, who came from York, and Rovers mainstay Connor Jones will have competition from Openshaw.
He progressed through the ranks at Folly Lane and played for Leigh Miners Rangers, another amateur team, while representing the England Community Lions at the Under-20 level.
Openshaw signed with Swinton after playing four times on loan at Oldham while he was with Salford in 2022, but he failed to make an impression on the squad.
He made thirteen appearances and scored four tries during his season at Rochdale.
“Jonny has impressed with his ability and commitment while on trial during pre-season,” stated Martin Vickers, managing director of Featherstone.

Rovers are waiting to find out if Connor Wynne’s red card against Goole has any consequences.
The 24-year-old winger, who moved from Hull to Rovers and had an outstanding first season, was dismissed 66 minutes into the preseason match at the Millennium Stadium, which Rovers won 46–6.
Jeylan Hodgson, a former Hull teammate who is currently at Goole, was placed on report when Wynne, who had scored two tries, walked after hitting out in a tackle from which he emerged with a finger injury.
In November, Wynne signed a 2025 contract extension after scoring 21 tries in 26 games. According to Ford, “Connor finished the season as one of our best and most consistent performers.” He brings everything you could possibly need from the outside back in abundance.
