Swansea City and Bristol City are both in the market for new signings this month as they look to bridge the gap from mid-table to the Championship play-off spots.
The Robins’ impressive form leaves them 9th in the Championship table, four points off the top six. The Swans meanwhile are three points back in 12th with just over half of the campaign gone.
Fresh faces would come in handy for both clubs, and it seems the Championship pair could be set to go to battle in the transfer market.
According to Football Insider, both Swansea City and Bristol City are interested in English defender Osaze Urhoghide. The 24-year-old now plays in France with Ligue 2 side Amiens SC but he could be offered a route back to these shores.
Rotterdam-born Urhoghide is said to be under contract until 2026, but the Swans and the Robins may well swoop in now as they look to strengthen their defensive ranks.
Urhoghide has played 18 times this season, chipping in with three goals from defence. It takes him to 39 appearances for Amiens since joining in 2023.
Despite being only 24, Swansea City and Bristol City target Urhoghige is already a pretty well-travelled player.
He spent time in the AFC Wimbledon academy before joining Sheffield Wednesday, where he made his senior breakthrough.
The versatile defender, who can play centrally and as a full-back, featured 21 times for the Owls and looked on course for a regular senior role at Hillsborough.

However, Urhoghide left when his deal expired in 2021, joining Celtic. Only one senior appearance came there, but he performed well on loan with KV Oostende in Belgium before heading to current club Amiens.
While Swansea City look to push up the Championship table with games against Cardiff City, Sheffield United and Norwich City before the end of the month, Bristol City are out to close the gap on the play-offs.
Liam Manning’s side face Coventry City this weekend before another away game against Sheffield Wednesday in midweek. They close out the month on home turf against Blackburn Rovers.
All the while, both will be juggling transfer business. Time will tell if either are able to bring Urhoghide in amid links with a move to back to England.
