Atlanta United is contemplating a high-profile acquisition of, a former Celtic striker, in light of rumors that Kyogo Furuhashi would relocate south.
The official MLS website revealed an item implying that the Hoops’ number eight had finalized a move to Ronny Deila’s team in the middle of the week, which caused confusion.
Following the league’s apology for their mistake, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers expressed his desire to retain the striker, who was named man of the match in yesterday’s 4-1 victory over Ross County in the Highlands.
Although American journalist Tom Bogert of GiveMeSport said that the club is concentrating on two striker targets for one of their Designated Player spots—none of whom are the Japanese frontman—Kyogo has previously been linked to a move to Atlanta.
In fact, the two players Atlanta is considering up top are Emmanuel Latte Lath of Middlesbrough and, perhaps unexpectedly, Edouard, a former Hoops forward now on loan at Leicester City from Crystal Palace. Big money would be involved in any transfer.
Bogert claims that the Americans have “cooled” their interest in Kyogo.

Deila will be doing his former team a huge favor if, in the end, he decides not to pursue a move for the Japan international.
Even if there have been questions about the 29-year-old’s skills at some points this season, he reminded everyone yesterday of his true self despite a little positional adjustment.
Although Celtic supporters will be quite relieved to learn that Atlanta may have moved on from Kyogo, one can never be sure of a player’s destiny.
