Portsmouth’s management and hierarchy are working hard to keep Pompey in the Championship, therefore the January transfer window is expected to be lively.
Although there were many signings and departures during the busy summer, the recruitment process was questioned at the time, and regrettably, the south coast team now has a lot of work to do this month.
Following a challenging first half of the season, Pompey has shifted their focus from adding young players in the summer. The newcomers will clear the path for exits, and experienced players with championship-level and higher pedigrees are sought.
Christian Saydee, a dynamic attacker, is reportedly one Portsmouth player attracting notice.
Unidentified League One teams are interested in Saydee, according to Darren Witcoop’s article on X.
Among those who may leave Fratton Park this month is the 22-year-old, though it is stated that he would only be released if a replacement was found.
Saydee is currently under contract with Pompey until the summer of 2026 having penned a three-year deal upon arrival in 2023.
Saydee might not have been the most prolific of attackers for Portsmouth since signing in the summer of 2023 but he’s been a great asset for John Mousinho to have in the ranks.
Operating both as a striker and attacking midfielder, the former Bournemouth youngster has managed six goals and three assists in 64 games for the club.

Sadly, Saydee’s two goals in a 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough earlier this season are the only goals he has scored in 22 games.
He is a strong forward and a flexible player who has proven to be useful at any level. Saydee has had trouble advancing to the Championship, though, so a transfer to League One might be ideal for his future.
Having already sold Elias Sorensen, Portsmouth will want to get an attacker through the door before letting another go. It means a Saydee departure may not come to fruition until later in the transfer window.
Mousinho currently has Colby Bishop, Mark O’Mahony and Kusini Yengi as his options at the top of the pitch. The attacking midfield spot has been occupied by Callum Lang, but natural options beyond him are limited.
Someone like Saydee who can operate up top or slightly deeper would not go amiss, so it remains to be seen whether Pompey can find that player to allow the attacker to head elsewhere this month.
