MLS team Atlanta United has made an aggressive bid to sign the Middlesbrough striker, after Leeds United was linked to a shock move.
Leeds is continuing to state that January will be a quiet month, so their efforts to bolster this month are probably going to be very limited.
The Whites should be aware that they could be able to add firepower up front if the chance to strengthen at a good price arises.
There are conflicting reports regarding Leeds’ possible pursuit of Middlesbrough striker Emmanuel Latte Lath, a top player at an EFL opponent.
Boasting 10 league goals this season after 16 in the last campaign, the Ivorian is reportedly subject to interest from Leeds, according to GiveMeSport and others.
However, the YEP since played down Leeds’ chances of springing a shock move for a promotion rivals’ key forward on the basis of just that – a deal struck to poach a direct rivals’ star man appears unlikely, not least when finances come into the equation for Leeds and ‘Boro trying to justify such a deal.
According to Nizaar Kinsella, the 26-year-old is now the target of a formal MLS proposal from Atlanta United for about £16 million.
The Teesside club is currently considering the offer as they try to organize the remainder of their January transfer window, and the striker is amenable to the transfer:

Latte Lath’s move to Atlanta would be an MLS transfer record if a deal is completed. Atlanta has a history of spending heavily; they rank second, third, fourth, sixth, and eighth in the league’s top ten largest transactions ever.
It is worthwhile to inquire if Leeds is indeed considering Latte Lath for this month and if they have the funds to match this proposal.
Although it’s always something to try, I would be shocked if Middlesbrough would even answer the phone for us.
Leeds would undoubtedly get promoted this season with a striker of that caliber on this team, but is it worth the money?
