The Welshman will remain at PNE for an eighth season even though his contract was supposed to end in the summer.
According to reports, Andrew Hughes, a defender for Preston North End, has agreed to a new contract with the team.
Paul Heckingbottom, the manager, mentioned the significance of responding to the number of defenders who have contracts expiring in 2025 during his most recent pregame press conference.
On New Year’s Eve, Jordan Storey’s new contract, which runs through the summer of 2028, was officially announced.
If Hughes signs an extension, Jack Whatmough’s contract will remain in effect until 2026, leaving Liam Lindsay, Patrick Bauer, and Kian Best as the defensive three with contracts expiring in the summer.
Since joining North End in the summer of 2018, Hughes has made 241 appearances for the team, 26 of which have come this season.
Despite struggling with injuries during his Preston career, the Welshman made 39 league games the previous season. He has scored nine PNE goals.
