The Swans manager has previously acknowledged that the center-back is a player of interest in January. It is believed that the club has made a new bid for the defender after the League One team rejected their earlier offer.
Williams has indicated that the two teams are still far off on valuation, despite the fact that the 22-year-old has played every minute of every league game for Wanderers, who are presently second in League One going into the second half of the season.
Unfortunately, there’s nothing I can tell you,” he added. “We must show a great deal of respect until the clubs are in agreement. Joe is a key player for Wycombe, who are enjoying a fantastic season and going incredibly well.
“So unless the two clubs are happy with the situation and both teams feel like they can make a deal, I don’t think it’s fair of me to say.”
Williams, meantime, has been quiet about recent connections to Abdulmalik Al-Jaber, a talented Saudi Arabian midfielder who is presently playing for Zeljeznicar of Bosnia.
According to reports, Swansea is now being considered by a number of other European teams, although Williams was unable to confirm or deny this.
He went on, “There’s not loads I can tell you,” “It’s probably too early for me to talk about anything more substantial than a link.”
A central midfielder, along with a winger and a centre-back, is believed to be an area the club are looking to strengthen in this window, and Williams says he remains confident that progress will be made soon.
“I want to be on the exact same page as my colleagues at the club,” he said. “What I can see is an endeavour to try and get those players. Unfortunately, some of those transactions, some of the moving parts are out of our control.
“We can be fortunate or less fortunate depending on circumstances. I think the most important thing is to see the effort and the endeavour going in to try and make deals happen.
“I’m certainly seeing that and I’m happy in that regard. We’re not in a position where we can really spend whatever we want, which means we have to work hard and smart within our parameters.
“But that is going on. I can’t argue with that and I can’t complain about that.
“But at the same time, I can’t guarantee there’s going to be a player walking through the door in the next couple of days, because then I would be misleading people.”
