For personal circumstances, the 57-year-old missed the Wanderers’ thrilling 4–4 draw with Melbourne Victory in Round 10, and Western Sydney has now revealed that the two parties have decided to split ways.
Hooker took over the Wanderers at the start of the 2023–24 Ninja A-League season, and on the last day of the regular season, his team only missed out on making it to the Finals Series the previous season.
But with only one victory in nine games this season, the Wanderers are currently ranked second from the bottom.
Wanderers Women’s Academy Technical Director Geoff Abrahams, who oversaw their most recent match in the Ninja A-League, will now serve as the team’s temporary manager until a replacement is found.
The Wanderers will face the Wellington Phoenix at home on Thursday, January 9, as part of a rapid turnaround under their new coaching.
