Nottingham Forest picked up their sixth league win on the trot – a streak that started with beating Manchester United at Old Trafford – as they thumped Wolves at Molineux on Monday.
Morgan Gibbs-White handed Forest an early lead in front of England manager Thomas Tuchel before Chris Wood doubled the team’s lead at the stroke of halftime. Taiwo Awoniyi then scored the third and final goal in second half stoppage time to seal a memorable win for the visitors.
With the victory at Molineux, Forest are now tied on 40 points along with Arsenal and have more wins in the Premier League than the Gunners.
Their next league fixture is against leaders Liverpool on January 14 and according to ex-Reds star and pundit Carragher, Nuno Espirito Santo’s men will become serious title contenders if they can beat the Merseyside club.
Speaking onĀ Sky Sports, the former England international said: “If they beat Liverpool they are in the title race.

What I would say right now is if the Champions League goes to the top five positions they have got one hell of a chance.”
Before facing Liverpool in the Premier League, Forest will face Luton Town in a third-round FA Cup clash on Saturday at home.
