After the Black Knights manager won Coach of the Month for October/November, this is Corica’s second accolade of the season.
Corica received the highest votes of any of the four nominated coaches to win the December award, despite being nominated for the monthly award alongside Mile Sterjovski of Macarthur FC, John Aloisi of Western United, and Carl Veart, the head coach of Adelaide United.
Through the monthly nomination process run by Football Coaches Australia, Corica was nominated for the December award.
In 2022–2023, the Australian Professional Leagues (APL) teamed up with FCA to give supporters a significant voice in recognizing exceptional coaching performances in the Isuzu UTE A-League Men and Ninja A-League Women.
An experienced panel put together by the FCA selects the monthly nominees for Coach of the Month in both leagues; a fan vote selects the winner from the list of monthly nominees.
The December eligibility period included Rounds 6–10 of the Isuzu UTE A-League season, and the FCA Panel took into account the results between November 29 and December 29 when selecting the nominees for Coach of the Month.
During that time, Corica managed five games, including three victories, one tie, and one loss. Auckland’s next game is on Saturday, January 11 at HBF Park against Perth Glory.
