Prior to his most recent international debut against the Springboks, the 23-year-old signed the contract extension, allowing him to continue playing for Wales.
Under rugby director George Skivington, Thomas, a graduate of Gloucester Rugby Academy, is one of numerous young players to make a name for themselves in the first team.
The forward is able to cover both second-row and back-row and has made 50 games for the Premiership club since his debut against French side Lyon in 2020.
“I’m thrilled to sign a new deal with my home club,” said the Wales lock.
“Skivs and the coaching staff here have dedicated a great deal of time and energy to my growth. Right now, I love playing rugby, and all I’m trying to do is keep working hard to improve.
We’ve come a long way as a team and there’s still more to come from us, I’m really excited to be part of the journey.”
Skivington revealed his delight at wrapping up the young lock’s future and is hugely excited about how far Thomas can progress as a Cherry and Whites player.
“We’re really happy to secure Freddie’s services moving forward,” he said.
“Part of our ethos here is to develop home-grown lads into regular first-team players and internationals, Freddie is a great example of that.
“He’s already an established face in the squad at a young age, and he’s only got further developing to do, so that’s exciting.”
