The Young attacker will return to Yeovil Town on loan next week, according to Rotherham United manager Steve Evans.
Before being called up by his League One parent club in late October, the Northern Ireland Under-21s international made an impression on a month-long loan, scoring twice in six games. Since then, he has made one start and two substitute appearances.
The manager of the Millers told the Rotherham Advertiser that the 21-year-old had to wait until the end of his initial loan period before he could return to Somerset.
“I’ve helped him negotiate his deal,” Evans stated. “You need a bit of this, you need a bit of that,” I have been saying. The child now views me as a father figure.
He scored some goals and had a great stint there. He should go out and receive three months of football instruction.
According to the source, McGuckin preferred to switch from South Yorkshire to South Somerset for a second stint because of “the affinity he already has” with the Glovers, despite interest from other National League clubs.
He did not play in Rotherham’s goalless draw with Huddersfield Town this past weekend.
“We’d used our three rounds of substitutions, but I would have liked to have put him on late on (against Huddersfield),” Evans continued. He has 96 days to visit there, according to the arrangement.
