Italian international prop Danilo Fischetti has become a vital contributor to the Azzurri after making his debut in 2020.
The former London Irish star has played for URC struggling team Zebre on two different occasions at the club level.
Zebre has found it difficult to contend with a team that has typically lacked elite players in crucial positions and undoubtedly lacked depth overall during these times.
Conversely, their Italian rivals Benetton have steadily improved into a play-off team that has occasionally faced off against the URC’s top teams.
Thus, when Zebre looked set for a landmark victory as time expired in yesterday’s derby clash only to be undone by a late penalty for going off their feet, fans could see the heartbreak on the player’s faces.
Sealing the deal for an out-of-sorts Benetton was South African fullback Rhyno Smith, who took over the kicking duties late on and made no mistake to secure an 11 – 10 win.
Celebrating their get-out-of-jail victory, Benetton’s emotions stood in stark contrast to that of Zebre, with Fischetti, in particular, being incensed by what he appeared to perceive as an injustice.
Taking his frustration to the next level, the 120kg loosehead followed referee Stefano Penne in what was a heated exchange.
