Asked whether Washington would be at the club beyond January, Derby head coach Warne said: “Possibly not. You have to shuffle the pack and Conor wants to play more than he obviously is.
It’s about the opportunity and whether it’s better than what he currently has.
Washington’s move from Rotherham to Derby has not gone well, and he has only made 22 appearances since moving to Pride Park, with his most recent appearance coming in a 3-0 victory over Leyton Orient in April.
“There will be a few players leaving. He could be one of them. If not, then that’s also fine. I am not one to drive them out of the training ground and throw their boots at them.”
