Nottingham Forest are reportedly set to rival Leicester City as both clubs ask about the ‘negotiating margins’ surrounding one of Major League Soccer’s most prolific strikers.
According to journalist Valentin Furlan (via Inside Fútbol), FC Dallas forward Petar Musa is of interest to the Premier League duo as both consider bolstering their squads ahead of a crucial second half of the season.
Musa has been the standout figure in a Dallas side that finished 21st overall in MLS, scoring 16 goals in 30 appearances in the 2024 season for the Toros.
The Croatian striker joined the club in February of 2024 from Benfica after averaging an impressive goalscoring rate of one every 97 minutes for the Portuguese giants.
Musa, who stands 6 feet 3 inches tall and has a tendency for finding the net, may be an excellent rival for Chris Wood, who is currently in form, especially since Forest is apparently considering bids for current backup striker Taiwo Awoniyi.
Dallas are apparently only interested in letting their number nine leave for an offer of more than €18 million, but it remains unclear how much Forest or the Foxes would be willing to fork out for him.
Premier League football would be a step up for the 26-year-old, but he has proved that he can adapt – and a backup role at the City Ground could be a win for all parties, allowing him to adapt gradually as Wood’s understudy.
As they carefully evaluate their alternatives this January transfer window, Forest has also been connected to Brazilian striker Yuri Alberto from Corinthians and, most recently, Brighton & Hove Albion’s young star Evan Ferguson.
Nuno Espírito Santo and Evangelos Marinakis are cautious about finding a way to keep the team cohesive and moving forward while maybe upgrading the roster.
After an incredible first half of the season, the Garibaldi are presently positioned third in the Premier League and flying high.
