The Mariners have called the 16-year-old Subway Joeys striker “one of the best young players in Australia.” After “multiple clubs” fought for his services, he signed a contract that will last until the conclusion of the 2025–26 season.
Following an incredible 2024 season in which he was called up to the Joeys for the first time and scored his first goal for the junior national side during the Australia Under-17 PacificAus Sports Football Tour, the teenage prodigy moves from Coffs Harbour to Gosford.
“Being with the Mariners is amazing; it has been a dream of mine since I was a child, and I am so excited to be joining them,” Sambrook said.
“I am excited to work with Jacko and the incredible coaching team because I know I will pick up a lot of knowledge from them that will help me develop as a player going forward.
“The culture and community is so strong on the Coast, I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
Mariners head coach Mark Jackson added: “We are really excited to be able to sign a young attacking player with such high potential.
“He is a talented young footballer with huge potential who is well recognised in the Australian Junior National Team set up and we look forward to working with him to continue to help him unlock that potential.”
